Objectives:
- Gather basic demographic information, to confirm we had a representative sample
- Establish the level of experience of the respondents
- Assess the respondents’ needs from the Local
We invited every active member through the email address(es) the Local has on file for them. We gave the membership approximately one month to complete it, and a couple of reminders were sent before the deadline. There were a handful of minor hiccups (lost emails, SurveyMonkey opt-out settings, etc.) but we had a healthy response: 463 members completed the survey: approximately 25% of all the members.
Comparing the demographic questions in the survey with the existing Local membership data (gender, years in the Local and Classification,) we found that the respondents were a representative sample. According to those statistics, for a target accuracy of 95% , our margin of error is 4%.
